INGCO CIDLI20558 Cordless Drill Review : Best Budget Drill with Massive Torque

I recently bought the INGCO CIDLI20558, a 20V brushless impact drill rated at 55N·m of maximum torque. I paid around ₹6,000 for the kit, which came with two 2.0Ah batteries and a charger.

After looking at the specifications and using the tool, I think this is a very interesting option for anyone looking for a powerful cordless drill without spending a fortune.

First Impression

The first thing I noticed about the CIDLI20558 is that it doesn't feel like a basic entry-level cordless drill. The brushless motor, 13mm chuck, 20V battery system and 55N·m torque rating make it a fairly serious tool for general workshop work.

It is also more versatile than a simple screwdriver because it combines normal drilling, screwdriving and impact drilling in one tool.

55N·m Torque: Is It Really Powerful?

55N·m is a substantial amount of torque for a cordless drill of this size. It gives the CIDLI20558 plenty of twisting force for driving screws and drilling applications where a smaller cordless drill might struggle.

One important thing to understand is that torque and power are not the same thing. The drill can produce high torque at relatively low output speed through its gearbox. A motorcycle engine, for example, may have a lower peak torque figure but produce much more power because it can produce that torque at several thousand RPM.

Therefore, the 55N·m specification should be viewed as an indication of the drill's available twisting force rather than as a direct comparison with the power of a vehicle engine.

Brushless BLDC Motor

One of the biggest advantages of the CIDLI20558 is its brushless motor. Traditional brushed drills use carbon brushes and a mechanical commutator to switch current through the motor. A brushless motor uses electronic switching instead.

Inside a brushless drill, the battery supplies power to an electronic controller, which uses MOSFETs and motor-position information to switch current through the motor windings.

This eliminates the carbon brushes that normally wear out in a brushed motor.

My kit came with two 2.0Ah batteries. I consider this a major advantage for workshop use.

A 2.0Ah battery is relatively compact and lightweight, so the drill does not become unnecessarily heavy. When one battery is discharged, the second battery can be used while the first one is charging.

A 4.0Ah battery would provide more runtime per charge, but for general work I actually like having two smaller batteries because they keep the drill lighter and give me a spare battery.

What Can You Use It For?

The CIDLI20558 should be suitable for a wide range of workshop and DIY jobs:

The impact function is useful when drilling into masonry, but this is still an impact drill rather than a dedicated SDS rotary hammer. If you regularly drill large holes into concrete, a proper rotary hammer would be a better choice.

13mm Chuck

The 13mm chuck is another feature I like. It provides compatibility with a wide range of commonly used drill bits and accessories.

For a general-purpose workshop drill, a 13mm chuck gives more flexibility than the smaller chucks found on many compact cordless drills.

Is 55N·m Enough for Workshop Work?

For most DIY and general workshop jobs, yes. In fact, 55N·m is more than enough for many applications.

You don't normally need maximum torque for every screw or hole. The multiple torque settings allow you to use a lower setting for delicate work and higher settings when you need more driving force.

This is particularly useful when working with wood because excessive torque can damage the screw head or drive a screw too deeply into the material.

Battery and Electronics

Because this is a brushless drill, there is an electronic motor controller inside the tool. The controller manages the current going to the motor and allows the drill to provide variable speed and electronic protection.

This is one reason modern brushless cordless tools can provide a lot of performance from a relatively small motor and battery.

The electronics also mean that excessive abuse is not a good idea. Continuously holding the trigger while the drill is completely stalled can produce very high current and significant heat in the battery, controller and motor.

Is ₹6,000 a Good Price?

In my opinion, yes.

At around ₹6,000, getting a genuine INGCO 20V brushless impact drill with a 55N·m torque rating, charger and two 2.0Ah batteries makes the package quite attractive.

The fact that it belongs to the INGCO P20S battery platform is another advantage. Once you have the batteries and charger, you can potentially expand into other compatible 20V tools without buying a completely new battery system for every tool.

Final Verdict

The INGCO CIDLI20558 is a very capable cordless drill for the money. Its combination of a 20V platform, brushless motor, 55N·m torque, 13mm chuck, impact function and two 2.0Ah batteries makes it a versatile tool for a home workshop.

I particularly like the brushless motor. There are no carbon brushes to wear out, and the electronic motor controller gives the drill good control and efficiency. With reasonable use and proper care, I would expect this type of tool to provide many years of service.

For woodworking, furniture work, metal drilling, repairs, screwdriving and general DIY, I think the CIDLI20558 is a very good investment at ₹6,000.

I would recommend the CIDLI20558 to DIY users, home mechanics, carpenters, fabricators, electricians, maintenance workers and anyone building a small workshop.

If you need a cordless drill for occasional household jobs, it may even be more powerful than you need. But if you want one versatile cordless tool that you can keep using as your workshop grows, this is where the CIDLI20558 makes a lot of sense.
